"Jean-Luc Colombo is one of the most celebrated producers in the Rhône Valley. Now with daughter Laure at the helm, the winery continues to go from strength to strength, crafting wines of precision, finesse and undeniable regional typicity. Cornas Le Vallon de l’Aigle (‘The Valley of the Eagle’) is made from a single parcel of old Syrah vines and is only produced in exceptional vintages. The 2013 is a wonderfully perfumed wine with marvellous amplitude and incredibly sumptuous texture. Initial waves of liquidised rock and dried flowers, cedes to an intense core of rich black fruits, followed by subtle spice inflections. A gorgeous wine to be savoured over the next decade."
